Use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Your Healthcare

At Newtown Medical Centre, we are committed to providing you with the best possible care. As part of our ongoing efforts to improve the way we deliver healthcare, we are introducing the use of artificial intelligence (AI) tools to support our doctors during consultations.

What is AI and how is it used?

AI (Artificial Intelligence) refers to computer programs and systems that can assist with tasks that usually require human input. In our clinic, AI tools may help transcribe consultation notes or support our doctors in documenting important details during your visit. This helps ensure your medical records are accurate, complete, and up to date.

What does this mean for you?

By continuing to receive care at Newtown Medical Centre, you are acknowledging and consenting to the potential use of AI during your consultation. Please be assured that all personal information will be handled in accordance with New Zealand privacy laws and medical confidentiality standards.

Your rights

  • You can ask questions or request further information at any time.

  • You are welcome to request that AI not be used in your consultation, your care will not be affected in any way.

  • Your consent is completely voluntary and can be withdrawn at any time.

Need more information?

If you have any questions or concerns about the use of AI in your care, please speak with your doctor during your visit. You can also email us directly at feedback@newtownmc.co.nz if you'd prefer to get in touch that way. Your comfort, privacy, and understanding are important to us.
